Positivity

Positivity We as hunters and gun owners are our worst enemy sometimes.  I see it on facebook groups, forums and at the range itself, where different disciplines of our shooting sports can't stand each other.  We are so busy fighting from within our own ranks that we forget that there are groups that truly hate us fjor no other reason than we use firearms and hunt legally and ethically. With social media growing, hunting pages are flooding our timelines and a majority of them, you'll see someone attacking another person. Brand shaming is a real thing.  Those who call names or speak ill of a product that they never tried is very prevalent today and its sad.   I witnessed a few of these last week and thought long and hard on the subject.  Why would someone spend their energy on talking down to someone else, bad mouthing another company that you know nothing about, never had that product in their hands?  I truly feel sorry for people who are so insecure with themselves

"Glory" the 243

We have one week until Christmas.  A stressful time for some.  We can't help everyone in the world, but if I can touch the hearts of a few, that makes me feel better. Let me take you back to a few years ago, my wife was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer.  The news of course was devastating.  We were stressed, sad, mad even, but that was the hand that was given to us.  The financial hardship was the furthest thing from our mind, but it was real. Fast forward to 2017, now.  The surgeries are over!  Chemo is done!  Cancer is gone!  "F" you Cancer!  We've had so much help over the last couple years.  Family, friends and an organization that helped us tremendously, the Tammy D foundation( click here for her story ). I know, so far this has nothing to do with guns or that pink/black/grey 243 I posted on social media teasing everyone this weekend, but bare with me. During our treatment, Tammy D foundation helped us with a gift card for groceries twice a month, a

87gr Vmax

I tested the 87gr Vmax on paper on Friday and to my surprise, it shot very good.  I was skeptical of the heavier bullets in a 1:10 twist barrel, but I was wrong.  They stacked up like hotcakes. I mentioned to my buddy Steve, who was with me at the range, that I wanted to see how fur friendly the 87's were, especially compared to the Nosler 70gr Ballistic tips. Fast forward to Sunday morning, we drove down south to the lower desert, did some exploring and found a few spots where it looked promising. We made a few dry stands with swirling winds, then came to an open area.  It had grease woods and small mesquite trees, but was open enough to see 100yds or so.  After five or six minutes, I thought to myself, this should be a good stand, especially with the wind in our face.  Not ten seconds later, we all see this coyote come running in on a beeline to the call/decoy. Steve, being patient, just sat and looked, even though he had a broadside shot.  He knew we wanted to test t

6 Super SD

I will be offeri ng a 6mm version of the 22 Nosler come Jan. 1, 2018.  A reamer is on its way to our barrel company as we speak.  I'll be doing some pre-order sales this week with a bit of a discount.  Here is a live from the stand report as it happened: Saturday, 5:30am we were out the door, we made several stands but it was very slow for some primer territory. 10:30am:  We called in a double, but they were down wind and busted us over 200yds away.  They didn't give poor George a chance to shoot. 11:40am:  Called in a single.  The Super 6 got to eat, but the damage was pretty brutal, it was only 80yds and you could drive a small car through its side. 1:40pm:  Called in a double, we were playing "the rabbit" on the Foxpro Shockwave and they came from 1/2 a mile away. I barked as the closer one got to me, another short shot at 60yds and that too, blew a grapefruit sized hole in its side and tore off 90% of its leg.  My luck would have it, Adam ha

224 Valkyrie

Image
Let me preface this and say, I do not have a barrel or an upper yet.  With that said, I am quite familiar with the 6.8SPC case dimensions/design. The 224 Valkyrie is not a new cartridge, these companies are just taking a wildcat cartridge that has been around for quite some time and making it a mainstream, factory round.  I first heard about the 22/6.8 was in 2007.  Wildcatters were really talking about using it for predators back then. So, the new cartridge is being pumped up as the best thing since sliced bread for the small framed AR-15.  This is to be expected, that's what marketing departments do, they tell you what they want you to hear.  The videos of it going to 1300yds and staying supersonic are impressive and I don't doubt its capable of that.  The heavier bullets have great ballistic co-efficient's(BC's). The question you must ask yourself is, What am I going to use it for?  Answer this honestly to yourself.  Are you using it for Precision Rifle mat
