6 Super SD

I will be offering a 6mm version of the 22 Nosler come Jan. 1, 2018.

A reamer is on its way to our barrel company as we speak.  I'll be doing some pre-order sales this week with a bit of a discount.

Here is a live from the stand report as it happened:

Saturday, 5:30am we were out the door, we made several stands but it was very slow for some primer territory.

10:30am:  We called in a double, but they were down wind and busted us over 200yds away.  They didn't give poor George a chance to shoot.

11:40am:  Called in a single.  The Super 6 got to eat, but the damage was pretty brutal, it was only 80yds and you could drive a small car through its side.

1:40pm:  Called in a double, we were playing "the rabbit" on the Foxpro Shockwave and they came from 1/2 a mile away. I barked as the closer one got to me, another short shot at 60yds and that too, blew a grapefruit sized hole in its side and tore off 90% of its leg.  My luck would have it, Adam had the camera on the other coyote.

All the scat we saw, which was a lot, all had juniper(cedar) berries in it, so it told us they weren't very active chasing rabbits.

Sunday, we decided to hit some lower elevations and it was night and day different from the previous day.

6:40am:  First stand of the morning, we shot a single that came into the "rabbit", the same one from the day prior.  This time it was 90yds and again, the coyote hit the ground without even a twitch.

7:20am:  Hard charging coyote, it was hard to stop him, but he checked up just under 100yds, it was a perfect broadside shot.  The 70gr BT from Nosler did its job and dropped him in his tracks.  As I turned to look at Adam, to see if he got good film, we both noticed a second coyote come up out of the arroyo(wash).  It went to 150yds and stood broadside for what seemed to be an easy shot using the US Optics scope and the 2 3/4 lb Elftmann tactical trigger.

9:45am:  Sitting on the edge of a canyon, to our surprise(not really because Adam killed a cat here a few months prior), a bobcat appears.  Adam is frantically telling me to shoot it with hand signals, sorta felt like we were playing charades.  I was unable to see it due to the only tree blocking my view.  George couldn't shoot either because of a big boulder in his way.  We tried coaxing it in closer, but it was already at 35yds and feeling uncomfortable.  Adam took the shot and hit a branch he didn't see and as it was running away, i threw a hail mary and clipped its toe, which caused the cat to jump five feet in the air.  George, then jumped up and chased the cat.  It laid under a tree just 50 yards further where George had a clear shot and finished it off with his Specialized Dynamics 223.  What excitement and to top it off, it was Georges birthday!!

We got some really good footage of a few coyotes and not so good footage of the bobcat, but all in all it was a lot of fun hanging out with good friends and hanging some fur.

Since the trip to Adams, Dominic and I hunted the Navajo Nation contest and we got four coyotes that weekend.  All were taken with the Super 6 SD, 3 by me and one by big D, as we switched guns on Sunday to get him some time on it.

I will be experimenting with some 75gr Sierra and some 87gr Vmax bullets soon and let everyone know how they performed.

Dominic and I will also be traveling to Utah a few days after Christmas to hunt some coyotes.  If any of you want to join us, pm me or email me and let me know what day works for you and we'll try to hunt or at least let folks shoot our guns.  We'll probably be in the Cedar City area, Dec. 28 or Dec. 29th.
